Mathematical improvement based on competences for public elementary school teachers from Region de Los Lagos and Los Ríos

Abstract

This article aims at sharing a proposal for the improvement of the professional competences in Mathematics, carried out for teachers who give this subject in 71 urban and rural public shools from Región de Los Lagos and Región de Los Ríos in Chile. For this purpose, through an improvement project based on a professional competence model, a didactic intervention was designed and the contents and learning evaluation were treated based on the types of problems and mathematical competences. The didactic strategy used and the achievements in the teachers' competences and the students' learning results are mentioned.
