Abstract

This essay delves into the notion of interdisciplinarity with the purpose of offering a theoretical framework for the analysis of interdisciplinary educational experiences in professional training. For its formulation, we consider the Comognitive Theory of Anna Sfard as the main reference. It is a framework for the didactics of mathematics that offers an epistemological position on the development of human knowledge. Along with this, we present a selection of theoretical and empirical approaches that describe interdisciplinary practices in professional and academic contexts. From this theoretical basis, we propose a definition of interdisciplinary process and distinguish the different observable comognitive actions during the interaction of the participants of said process. This essay ends with some reflections that may be useful in making decisions associated with the implementation of interdisciplinary experiences in higher education.
