Abstract

This article refers to the results of an educational research epistemologically oriented by the qualitative paradigm and methodologically mixed; its purpose was to develop knowledge and positive attitudes toward the environment on urban students of Secondary Schools in the Araucania Region, Temuco, Chile. The basic learning resources consisted on learning worksheets covering Urban Environmental Problems (eg; water, energy, and solid wastes). Those instruments, built upon the socio constructivist learning approach, are complemented with the pedagogical criteria pointed by Elliot, and their practical application in the classroom under the system of Alternative Learning Modules. Results showed that students built some knowledge towards the environment and adopted positive attitudes too, but both continued in a different rhythm during the learning process.
