Physical Education Didactics, Inequalities and Social Transformation

Abstract
This paper analyzes the relationship between Physical Education (PE), social inequality and the possibilities of education as an engine of social transformation. We have organized the paper into 4 main sections. First, we make an introduction to the subject. In the second part we review the contributions of Critical Pedagogy and others streams, converging with the approaches of social transformation: values education in physical education, the use of cooperative methodology in physical education, coexistence and integration programs. In the third section we address the issue of physical education, inequality and inclusion of pupils with special educational needs at school and specifically in PE classes. In the fourth and last section, we briefly review the major contributions made on physical activity, sport and research for social change.
