Psychological factors that lead to low achievement, failure and dropping out of school

Abstract

The article analyses from a clinical traditional point of view some psychological and social risk factors that increase the possibility of low achievement and failure at school. It argues that through the development of the “emotional competence” in the school community it is possible to create protective factors that allow a normal development helping to achieve a good performance al school.
