Teachers' representations in the identity construction process of deaf people in their education
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents the link between the results of two studies carried out within a line of investigation which started in 2002. The first one is entitled “Approximation to the Construction of Identities of Deaf People”, and it contributes with new knowledge about external and internal mechanisms which have had an effect in the identity construction of deaf people, characterizing the school as a relevant social space in which the role of the teacher is fundamental. Its results create the need for a second investigation: ‘A Study on the Representations Created by teachers of Deaf People in Schools of the Metropolitan Region', through which a typology for an understanding of the current situation in this field is postulated.
