Social role of research through Spanish and Latin American journals of physical education. Are the journals commited to social change?

Abstract
Science is presented as a social institution exposed to power relations and interests in the social-politic context. Instrumental and non-instrumental role of science and social and economic value of knowledge is explained in relation to social change. This paper analyses the contribution of research in physical education and sports to social change through its communication tools and scientific production. In order to do this, editorial trends and papers published in the last year in Spanish and Latin American journals of physical education and sport are reviewed.
