Quality of home environment, HOME scale as a measuring instrument

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to measure the quality of home environment of 60 families of Concepción, Chile, from two different socioeconomic strata, whose children attend two preschool centers rated as good educational quality centers by the ECERS scale and analyze the psychometric characteristics of the HOME instrument to be used in the Chilean reality. 
We found that, in general terms, the psychometric quality of the scale was well defined, showing agreement between the items and the subscales and total scale, the quality of the homes of the sample was adequate and that there were significant differences between the two groups of families.
